- Grind Your Toasted Sesame Seeds
Freshly ground sesame seeds make a huge difference in flavor. Pre-ground sesame just doesn’t have the same aroma.
I’ve been using a small grinder like this for about 3 years and it still works great. Amazon affiliate link here One downside: even at the finest setting, it still grinds a bit coarse. So it’s not ideal for things like black pepper.
If you have a mortar and pestle, that works even better.
If not, you can crush the sesame seeds by rubbing them between your palms.
Using toasted sesame seeds will make the flavor even better. - Use Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce
Go for naturally brewed soy sauce for a cleaner, deeper flavor. - Keep the Vinegar Simple
Avoid strong fruit vinegars. Use distilled vinegar or white wine vinegar for a balanced taste.

- 3 tbsp soy sauce (30g)
- 3 tbsp olive oil (30g)
- 2 tbsp vinegar (22g)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (8g)
- 1.5 tbsp sugar (19.5g)
- 1 tbsp ground toasted sesame seeds
- ½ tbsp garlic powder (4g)
Instructions
- Grind the sesame seeds.
- Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix until the sugar is fully dissolved.
